The Next Big Thing Blog Hop!

Welcome to week 28....
There are the books everyone has heard about: Twilight, Hunger Games, Fifty Shades of Gray. But what about all those books written by people you’ve never heard of? Some of them are treasures, just waiting to be found, and that’s what this blog hop is all about: the books you might not have heard about, but that you might end up loving.

This blog hop is like a game of tag. One author posts and tags other authors who link back to their website the next week and tag new authors. If you follow the blog hop long enough, you’re bound to find some books you’ll love! Maybe you’ll even discover a book that ends up being the next big thing.

I was tagged by Wt Prater. You can learn more about his book, The Six Sides of Love, at his website,

This blog hop includes ten questions to help you learn more about an author’s current work in progress, so here’s a little info about my current project:

1: What is the working title of your book?
Making it Personal

2: Where did the idea come from for the book?
I'd only been writing for a few months when the idea came to me - no idea where from, to be honest - I just know that I scrambled for my notebook to write it down!

3: What genre does your book fall under?
Contemporary GLBT fiction

4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Oooh, now THERE'S a question! And to be honest? I don't have a clue! I'd need a dark-haired guy with really blue eyes for Blake, and as for Will...hmmm, maybe...Brad Pitt? (Well, a girl can dream, can't she?)

5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
A night of hot sex on his thirtieth birthday with escort Alec changes everything for in-the-closet publishing CEO Blake Davis, when, the following day, his one and only (perfect on paper ) candidate for the position of Blake's PA walks in - except that Will Parkinson turns out to be...Alec....

6: Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
I'm hoping to have it published with Dreamspinner Press, who published my first book, and are publishing the next two. (Hopefully three, by the time January gets here...)

7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
About 2-and-a-half months, which is turning about to be the average time it's taking me to write a first draft.

8: What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I'm not really sure: you might be able to tell me after you've read it!

9: Who or What inspired you to write this book?
So many things inspire me: I see ideas everywhere - but I have so many friends who seem to love reading what I write. I have a couple in particular who love it when I send them a chapter to read - although one does call me a tease!! I love it when I post a snippet from a book here on the blog or on Facebook, and someone comes back to me to say that they really liked it. "More!" is always a comment that puts a big smile on my face and pushes me to write more.

10: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
The books which I've written so far are three from a series of four about University students (aged 18-22, mostly inexperienced boys) and a BDSM novel where the submissive is a twenty-two year old virgin - this is quite different. Blake and Will are most definitely MEN, who like their sex rough - and lots of it..I'm going to be trying very hard to rein them in a little!

Happy Reading!

Here is a list of authors who will be joining the hop for week 29 on January 2nd. I hope you’ll visit their blogs next week and learn more about their books. Maybe one of them will become your new favorite author!  And with that . . . Tag . . . YOU'RE IT! . . . .

Patricia Logan         Willa Okati        Kiernan Kelly

You can always follow what I'm up to on Facebook or here... and there's always my website.... Happy Reading, everyone!

    1. Thanks, sweetie! Yeah, Will Parkinson, aka 'Alec' - so now you know who Will was referring to in his recent post when he said a friend had named a character after him...
